Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan mengatakan Indonesia dan China bakal bekerja sama dalam mengembangkan teknologi penanaman padi di Tanah Air.
Hal tersebut ia ungkapkan usai Pertemuan ke-4 High Level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism (HDCM) RI Republik Rakyat China (RRC) di Labuan Bajo, Nusa Tenggara Timur, pekan ini.
Luhut mengatakan China merupakan negara yang sukses melakukan swasembada beras. Oleh karena itu, ia meminta Negeri Tirai Bambu untuk melakukan transfer teknologi pertanian.
“Kami minta mereka memberikan teknologi pagi mereka, di mana mereka sudah sukses swasembada. Mereka sudah bersedia,” ucap Luhut seperti dikutip dari akun Instagram resminya, @luhut.padjaitan, Minggu (21/4).
Ia mengatakan kerja sama dengan China tersebut nanti bakal diimplementasikan untuk menggarap 1 juta hektare lahan di Kalimantan Tengah. Namun, penggarapan lahan itu dilakukan secara bertahap.
Luhut menyebut saat ini pihaknya masih mencari local partner. Adapun off taker atau pemasok kebutuhan industri ataupun pasar di program itu adalah Bulog.
“Kami berharap enam bulan dari sekarang kita sudah mulai dengan proyek ini. Kami mau ajak anak muda Indonesia yang bidang pertanian untuk ikut di sini,” kata dia.
Menurut Luhut, jika program ini jalan kelak Indonesia bisa mengurangi impor beras yang belakangan mencapai 2 juta ton.
Ia menilai dengan program ini impor beras RI bisa di tekan ke level 4 ton hingga 5 ton saja.
“Sudah selesai isu pertahanan pangan kita soal beras, kita jadi lumbung pangan harusnya demikian,” ujar Luhut.
